KOREA; The Hermit Kingdom
A Synopsis of Korea.
Korea's DMZ ; the dividing line between the Peninsula, between The NORTH [Korea] and The SOUTH [Korea], on the Map is;
Latitude: N; 38 degrees and Longitude: E; 128 degrees
The mass of the combined Land is; 85,232 sq. miles
South Korea is; 38,691 sq. miles
North Korea is; 46,541 sq. miles
Population
South Korea; 50.22 Million People
North Korea; 24.9 Million People
(combined total; 75.12 Million People)
Korea has had Three Major Dynasty Kingdom Periods of Ancient time.

* I would ask You to think again, IF You think that Politics and "Religion" have Nothing to do with each other.
Korea, The (Full) Peninsula, came into existence in 2333 BC.
This would make Korea, over 4000 Years Old.
Today I have been, much of the day, delving into & reviewing online, once again; the mystical kingdom of KOREA. I say once again, because of a few reasons. Allow me to paint for you a background.
Namely, I as a Veteran of the US Armed Forces fulfilled a "Tour Of Duty" there; 1976-77. My "Firebase' was Camp Page, 4th USMC, Chun Chon (Chuncheon); SOUTH Korea. 30 miles south of The DMZ, and 65 miles NE of Seoul, its Capitol, Camp Page being the furthest most Northern Base in all of South Korea other than the bases along The DMZ itself. (De-Militarized Zone; aka; No Man's Land, and the Point of No Return).
Note; All of Korea is Very Mountainous!
My M.O.S. (Military Occupational Skill) was basically, low end of the "totem pole" Military Intel, to gather and report activity in high risk areas, back to HQ, via the commo gear I learned to operate. (*Fun Fact; Life Expectancy for Guys on this MOS, in a Combat situatuon; 9 seconds!) Smile! :)
My (Our) Duties were to Patrol, to lauch & fulfill Missions and Operations outside Our base, within the Land & Remote areas & Mountains of South Korea, and Our A.O. (Area of Operation) consisted of the NorthEast Sector of The Country, therefore; equaling 2,489 sq. Kilometers (1,547 sq. miles).
From our Camp in Chun Chon, 30 miles north towards The DMZ near Gwanu-ri, and from there East 64 miles, along the direction of The DMZ, to Geomjang-ri near the Coast and The Sea of Japan. Also from Camp Page; 50 miles due East to The Coast near Sokcho, and once again, 26 miles north to The DMZ along the coast to Geomjang-ri. ALL of That Area was Our assigned territory and We could, would and did end up anywhere within that area of those square miles. Every other week, for the week, day and night, in the field. Even 8 nights and 9 days on a very special Operation.
The Three Leaders (Dictators) since 1945 (The Kim(s); Family last name) and the End of WWII, to where The Japanese had control of ALL of Asia, etc, and especially of ALL of Korea since 1910 to 1945, The Japanese submitted to an Unconditional and complete Surrender of ALL to The US of America. In 1945, KOREA, sadly was divided into The TWO Koreas. (Communist North and The Republic and FREE South)
* Kim Il-Sung became the First leader in 1945 of The North, He was the Leader of The North when I was Stationed in Korea in The South.
* Kim Jong-Il was The Son (of Kim Il-Sung) who took the place of "leadership" when His father deceased in 1994.
* Kim Jong-Un is the grandson (of Kim Il-Sung) and The Son of Kim Jong-Il, who now rules in His fathers and grandfathers Place. He took rule when His father deceased recently in 2011.

4th USMC in this case stands for United States Missile Command. We were a Combat ready base consisting of; The "Honest John" Artillery Rockets (missiles), Atomic, Nuclear or High Explosive capable.
Our Combat Readiness consisted of;
*Infantry
*Artillery
*Military Intelligence
*Combat Communications (In the field and area of risk)
*Helicopters; Hueys, Cobra Attack, Scout, Chinook.
and etc.
Other Reasons that I have wishing to discuss Korea, other than having a personal interest in the Territory, I shall state state momentarily. Also, I have researched about Korea more than a few times in the past, as Im sure you can imagine. So many of these thoughts are coming from a very Saturated with time and "marinated" thought process and perspective. I do have "my" perspectives on many various things & issues, that Ive for the most part kept to myself, hidden in the treasure of my heart.
As the result of Today though, Ive decided to create a Blog, this Blog to be able to "pen" and share my thoughts especially on this matter to begin with. Thoughts that Ive had for quite some time.
Ive began to become an Avid Writer in 2001. I havent shared any of nor many of my writings at all whatsoever. I actually havent written anything much for a "short" while. But today, I guess Im taking my "Quill' back up :)
Im aware that this is a Blog and Not necessarily a BOOK, lol, and I did say Synopsis. I can, shall and will add more about Korea im sure, in the future and of course Other discussions or at least monologues about other subjects as well as my blog descript states. Hoplefully though, this will Not be just a monologue, and I look forward to comments and Dialogue with YOU, re; this blog.
Ok, well the thing that strikes me the most regarding Korea, and what caused me to establish this blog today Is;
The Stark Contrast, between The Two Koreas.
Just on the either side of a Line drawn in the sand called The DMZ, On one side, that being North of the Line, right THERE and from there ALL the way up to the top, Is and has been Ravaged by Famine and Starvation.
AND just on the Other side, That being South, I mean exactly right there and from there ALL the way down to the bottom There has been NO Drought of any magnitude, No Famine in the land and No Great Masses Starving and dying as the result. PLUS, Great Prosperity.
Oh, you might say; "But Yea, AMERICA has been South Korea's ALLY since 1945, and We're supporting them". But The North has still Hermited itself from most of The World and especially away from America".
Yes you might be saying that. BUT, I would add, America AIN'T (and yes I used the word Ain't, lol) Aint making it RAIN over there. Ive been there, and I KNOW The Monsoon Seasons! America AIN'T Making The Crops Grow. You see, whats happening over in The North, which Is Drought and Famine and Starvation and death of the masses.
Think about it, did you see The Stats at the top of this page?
The North has More Land and more importantly; Less than HALF the Population of The South.
And WHY, do you think that is? Yes youve most likely heard about it at least once in some news, The death going on in North Korea because of the Famine that has wreaked havoc on them.
MY Statement is; HOW is THAT Possible, in and on the SAME Peninsula?
Yes, The Whole of ALL Korea is A Peninsula, heres an analogy; take Florida, which is a Peninsula, for instance, put a dividing Line right through the middle of it, and have Flourishing and PLENTY for 60 Years straight going on One side of that Line, and just exactly and directly over that same Line, would be The Exact Stark Opposite! (GOD Forbid, because & but its just an analogy, but once again, Florida IS A Peninsula.
Listed below are links, the one of Kim Il-Sung and His "Early Life" is the one I wish to mostly draw Your Attention to.
Oddly enough, He, was brought up in a Family of Very Active Presbyterian Christians and in The Christian Community. His own Parents were Christians.
His Grandparents were Protestant Christians, His GrandFather was a Minister of The Gospel. His own Father, Yes, Kim Il-Sungs Own Father, had gone to Missionary school and was An ELDER (one of many) in The Church.
Woe now, because one must Understand what "Protestant" and "Presbyterianism" Is!
First of All, heres what it Is and heres what it is Not.
* It Is; "Ecclesiastical", therefore; Non-Secular
* It is Not; Secular, and Not Humanistic,
* It Is; GODLY, and Spiritual.
* And next of all importance and significance is; Presbyterian means; A Form of Government, governed by a body of ELDERS; (thats Plural)!
Yes its a "Church" Government, but nonetheless, the example set by it speaks volumes.
The North Invaded The South in 1950, and since the WAR in Korea, there Never has been a Peace-Treaty AGREED To and Signed by both Parties of the 2 Koreas. It turned out to Be an Exercise in FUTILTY for The North in their intiative, with great Loss for all sides, because The "Halt" in the struggle of Both in completely Winning the whole of Korea in the war, that is The "Halt" literally ended up at about the same place in stalemate, by 1953, where the Dividing Line was Before The Invasion; that is; At The 38th Parallel, where The DMZ was prior and end up being again, and still is now
There has ONLY Been a Cease-Fire Command given by the 2 Parties, Issued in 1953 that has been; "The Thin Red-Line" since '53 all thru the decades until Now and beyond. And a Very Fragile "Cease-Fire" at that, which Cease-Fire has been Broken over 40,000 Times, documented, since 1953 till now.

We, America have had Our US Troops Stationed in South Korea since 1950 when We engaged in The War, all thru the decades until now and beyond.
Kim Il-Sung, raised by Christian Relatives, chose to Depart from The Faith of His Fathers! (and Mothers!). The Faith that he had to be introduced to, and faced with a decision to Accept or Reject.
It is quite obvious that he Rejected IT.
He set Himself up as a (the) "god" if not "God". I think that he set himself up as "God", after my much research and witnessing what & how His People Venerate Him, and then His son, and Now His Grandson. THEY, those 3 leaders, want to Be Worshipped.
If there is (A) GOD, and theres two things I do know that I know, and that I learned around My "Round-Tables(s)" discussions;
#1; There IS A GOD and
#2; Im NOT Him! (and Neither are You, whoever you are! Except The Lord God in Heaven above...lol)
* [and Yes I believe He's a Him, though He created both Male and Female, and we can have that discussion later on in the future].
But The North Korean People, have been Deprived of that Knowledge and led to Believe with an Iron Fist upon them, that there is NO GOD, except The KIMs! Other than that It is an Atheist and Hypocritical State. (Period!)
To have a Bible in North Korea is not just prohibited and forbidden,
It IS a POLITICAL Crime, with carrying with it Punishment Public Execution of Death.
An American tourist smuggled in and left a Bible in North Korea and as he was in the airport to leave the country, He was arrested for "Terrorism" because of it. What?! They consider that an act of Terrorism? as defined in Our World's View as it is today? Yea, they called it that!
* Personal note: Yea, they ought to be Afraid, They Need The Fear of The Lord!, but Thats exactly it! They are Afraid that IF Christianity was able to Prevail there, theyd possibly be totally overthrown and replaced with what? A Truly Good and Righteous Leader?)
I ask; "Why?" is it deemed a Political Crime by The North Korea Regime?
ITS AGAINST THE "PEOPLE's" LAW TO Believe In The TRUE GOD Of The Holy Bible, because THEY, the "Leaders" demand to be the ONLY one(s) worshipped.
So like I said at the beginning of this Blog, "If you think that Politics has Nothing to do with "Religion", think again.

and yet it also mentions
*that The Heavens will be like Brass and The Earth like Iron, and NOT give their Rain, and Crops Not grow, to where there shall be Drought and Famine and thus Death. (Deutoronomy 28th Chapter)
Look at the Major extreme difference between The 2 Koreas. South Korea has had a Revival, an Major Outpouring of The Spirit of The Lord GOD, since just around the End of The Major Fighting from The War in 1953. Pastor Paul Yonggi-Cho helped to start that Nation-wide Revival with His conversion from Buddism to becoming a Born-Again Christian. He has The Largest Church in the World (Building and membership; nearly a Million people!)
They (His Ministry; Owns a Mountain they Legally aquired and purchased in 1973. Its called "Prayer Mountain" that facilitates 10,000 people and that receives is Frequented by The Korean Nationals and receives Tourists from around the world and that is dedicated to Prayer & Fasting, Continually before The Lord, Day and Night, 24 Hours a Day. I know they must be Praying for Both The North and South to be able to Truly FREE, in every way.
There Country of South Korea Is FREE. They practice and and have in Law the same Principles that The United States of America was & is Founded Upon!
The Bible Says; WHERE The Spirit Of The LORD Is; THERE; IS FREEDOM!
America Has Freedom! And Thats BECAUSE; The Spirit Of The LORD; Is HERE! ThankYou Lord God in Jesus Name.
